Ohio has the fourth greatest number of Submarine Industrial Base (SIB) supplier, 48 Ohio Technical Centers, and 1 national headquarters of the American Power Boat Association. It’s the perfect place to host a 100% Budget Warriors competition that engages local workforce partners. A September kickoff/job fair sets the stage for an engaging April collegiate race and job fair. We’re excited to partner with the APBA and SOCHE to make this an impactful event for Ohio students and employers.
Employers are invited to sign up to interview in the climate-controlled indoor space and walk the collegiate work area with the resumes we provide all signed-up Hiring Managers with resume files in advanced to make each person’s time most impactful.
Saturday, October 10 Agenda:
- 0900-1030: Students arrive, receive PEP27 rules brief, and see exhibitions of hull construction techniques and electronics configurations
- 0900-1600: APBA Racers on Champions Lake
- 1100-1400: Job fair at Champions Lake (or Indoor Facility if weather requires)
- 1100-1400: ASNE helps students create/strengthen resumes as needed and identify potential co-ops/PT work
- 1130-1230: Lunch provided for collegiate competitors
- 1400-1600: Reception for collegiate teams and departure
PEP Ohio Race will be held on Saturday, April 17, with another job fair geared toward students and veterans. This competition will occur alongside an APBA testing day so all participants will get to see this the fastest raceboats roar in Champions Park.
April 17 Agenda:
- 0800-1100: Qualifying 100 meter run. (Must complete! Get in early, no chance after 11am to qualify.)
- 1100-1500: Two qualified boats racing on the course at all times
- 1130-1230: Lunch
- 1100-1400: Job fair kicks off at race site
- 1500-1530: Trophy presentation; Careers follow-up speech
- 1530-1830: Indoor Reception & Celebration

Maximizing a $1,500 Budget
With the right skills and tools, you can build a remote-controlled boat using a material that you prefer. You should use the tools and safety regulations at your school.
